Valentine Reinhardt
A multidisciplinary artist, Valentine's universe stands out for its graphic style, its intense colors and its dreamlike nature bordering on surrealism. It is always with poetry and humor that she diverts, transforms and reinvents the world around her to give birth to images
unique, rich in meaning. By mixing photography, painting, video, Valentine produces works where characters and nature coexist in a chimerical dance. For Colector, Valentine has chosen works from three different series, whose colors and imaginations will transport you.
Can you introduce us to the selection of your works available at
Collector?
It is a mixture of paintings and photographs. They are mainly from personal series, with the exception of
"L'aventura", which is a series of record covers made for
artist Sébastien Tellier. The omnipresent theme of nature and the intense colors weave a visual link between the images. These playful and dreamlike explorations revisit my favorite themes, including still life, the
female body, and the relationship between man and nature.
What would you like your works to inspire in those who view them?
discover?
I would like my images to intrigue, amuse, or arouse emotion in those who discover them. I like to play, mix shapes, textures and colors to create an awakening of the senses.
Who are your major artistic influences?
My work is related to very varied influences: it is inspired by classical painting and surrealist aesthetics, by its strange and dreamlike side. I am often told about the Douanier Rousseau, which is reflected in
my images through these idyllic and fantasized landscapes. Finally, the
Bright colors, humor and the representation of the female body evoke the world of pop art. I particularly love the work of Tom Wesselmann, for its playful and sensual dimension.
