A WORLD WITHOUT HUMANS
Graphic, yet also obscure, Benjamin's paintings use stark shapes to show seasonal change, like lines on a sundial.
There’s something unique about the way Benjamin Artola paints. He often uses paint to capture a part of an animation he has in mind, “kind of like a screenshot,” he says. In this way, Benjamin likes to think of his works as part of a moving story. At the center of each one, the “main character,” as he puts it, is the sun, which often appears in multiple configurations per work, making it easy to imagine how that movement would behave, setting and rising.
